The Longines Les Classique is a popular model and one we see regularly. This particular watch is in a fairly poor state - take the condition of the case back seal - I'm not surprised theres been significant dirt/debris ingress.
One of the quirks of these watches is the necessity for a special pump tool, which uses air pressure to lift the glass from the case, allowing extraction of the movement.
Now the movement is out, we can remove the dial and hands.
Disassembly - This is the dial side of the movement, with the hour wheel being removed.
Here's a close up of the train wheel bridge - the wheel you can see most clearly is called the third wheel.
Almost fully stripped down and ready for cleaning.
After a thorough clean with the case and bracelet going in our ultrasonic cleaner, its time for reassembly and oiling. Here the movement is partially rebuilt with a 20p for size comparison - the parts we deal with when servicing a movement like this are very small.
Reassembled and oiled - Much better! Now to test.
Using the Elma Watch-Master to test the movement power consumption and confirm it falls within the required range.
Now to reassemble in the case, making sure to replace poor condition case parts such as the seal as indentified earlier.
