This was a very interesting job. A customer who had originally wanted this ring with a hinge in the band, now wanted the ring converted back to a traditional band. We had to consider many aspects with this job, firstly the sapphire was a rather magnificent natural unheated stone. Either side of the sapphire were two pear cut diamonds, beautifully matched.

For this work to be undertaken, we felt it necessary to unset the gemstones, in order to protect them whilst the work on the band was undertaken.

Here we see the finish item in all its glory. The sapphire has been reset and the claws have been redone to ensure the stone is fully secure. The band is now completed, having been handmade in our own workshop here in Lewes. Our goldsmith handmade the band to match the original profile of the hinged band, to the desired finger size.

The Goldsmith is preparing the ring to undergo its transformation. We see the gemstones are unset, and the additional platinum that is required alongside the ring.

This is the ring, and how our customer had it originally, with the hinged band. If you have a jewellery repair or remodelling job you would like to discuss please get in touch.

Yours sincerely
