This was a very interesting job. A customer who had originally wanted this ring with a hinge in the band, now wanted the ring converted back to a traditional band. We had to consider many aspects with this job, firstly the sapphire was a rather magnificent natural unheated stone. Either side of the sapphire were two pear cut diamonds, beautifully matched.
For this work to be undertaken, we felt it necessary to unset the gemstones, in order to protect them whilst the work on the band was undertaken.
We are often presented with jewellery that our customers have had for many many years, and for one reason or another it is time for change. In many instances the jewellery has become worn to the point that it cannot be repaired or restored back to a wearable condition. Or it may be that a change is wanted, and a very good way to do this is to use the existing precious gemstones and then design jewellery around these.
This was one such example, and it was Katie's customer at our Lewes showroom, she presented these two rings and it was the case that they were too worn to be repaired.
Recently one of Katie’s very good customers came in with some sad news, but never fear there is a happy ending. Originally, our customer had purchased a really lovely Tanzanite and diamond ring from us. Recently though after a number of years, the ring had been accidentally knocked. The result of this was that the tanzanite was very badly chipped. It had sustained damage to such an extent that it could not be re-polished.
Now, the silver lining of this initially sad situation, as specialist coloured gemstone dealers, we were able to harness
We are excited to tell you our Sale at our Lewes showroom has now started. For a limited time, you will be able to make some truly amazing savings.
Many items of jewellery, watches and gift items reduced by up to 70%.
Occasionally we decide it is time to say goodbye to some of our lovely stock items, which have just been with us a little too long. This gives our customers the opportunity to find that perfect item, and an amazing price, and for us to be able to introduce new items to the showroom.
A recent and complex job we were asked to undertake in the workshop, involved restoring this 18ct Gold Rolex Day-Date watch bracelet. The bracelet was extremely worn and stretched, we often see this, especially with gold bracelets. Gold watch bracelets are a lot softer than stainless steel equivalents, and will of course wear more severely over time.
We are one of the few jewellers to have our own on-site Goldsmith, with our own workshop which has the latest equipment.
It may be that you need us to repair something as simple as a gold chain, or you would like us to undertake a re-sizing of a special ring that has passed down the generations.
Our Goldsmith is expertly trained, and really enjoys the challenge of more involved jobs. Very often we are presented with family pieces of jewellery that have been loved, and been worn daily for many years. This, of course, takes its toll and it is just this kind of job we relish, to then be able to breath life back into cherished jewellery items, and give them a new lease of life.
Recently, I was presented with a solitaire diamond ring, which was unfortunately beyond a basic repair, and needed to be fully re-built. The customer was really very keen that the ring should look as close to the original as possible, the only option was to handmake the ring to achieve the desired
As we all know times are tough for many people, and I firmly believe that if in a position to help in some way then I should. This also applies to objectives towards helping the environment as well, which we as a company are making great strides towards.

There are few words that enlist such wonder and a feeling of pure excitement. Fabergé- A world of luxury.
In 1882 Peter Carl Fabergé took over his father’s very ordinary jewellery business. Together with his brother Agathon, he quickly transformed it into an international phenomenon. The success of the two brothers was changing the nature of the business. Out went the then fashionable style where diamonds prevailed. In came the design-led artist-jeweller with a penchant for colour through both stones and reviving the lost art of enamelling. They added objets deluxe to their repertoire, including objets de fantaisie such as the Imperial Easter Eggs, now regarded as pinnacles of the goldsmiths’ art. Today these are treasured in some of the world’s leading museums and private collections. The craftsmanship of all their creations was of the very finest standard. This formula of design and craftsmanship made Fabergé irresistible and the ultimate objects to
I have been working hard over the last decade to achieve gemmological and valuation qualifications.
David Clark, Managing Director, is now a Jewellery Valuers Association (JVA) Registered Valuer®. This is a process that takes a lot of training, exams and qualifications to finally achieve this status. Over the past couple of years David has achieved the prestigious DGA Diamond Membership of GEM-A. All of this expertise takes many years to acquire. Valuations can be carried out for multiple purposes, it is important that the correct valuation is carried out.
The process of becoming a Registered Valuer requires and still requires a lot of commitment.
