W.E. Clark & Son has a rich history, with the Clark family involved since 1919. With the fourth generation of the Clark family involved in the business it is now set to continue as it has done for many decades before.
John Clark has owned W.E. Clark & Son since 1971, when he took over from John Clark senior. John Clark’s career in the jewellery trade first started in 1965 when he worked for a prestigious jewellers in Tunbridge Wells, he worked there for two years learning the trade.
In 1967 he moved to Guilford to gain further experience, for one year. In 1971 he moved back to his first place of employment after being asked to come back by the management, he stayed here for a further two years. In 1971 John Clark gains his F.G.A qualification, Fellow of the Gemmological Association, an internationally recognised gemmology qualification.
Today John Clark works together with David Clark running the two shops inLewes.
David Clark has been with the business since 2000 and in this time he has worked with his father, John Clark, together they have worked to build upon the business’s firm foundations. David joined the business after completing an eighteen month apprenticeship at one of the country’s finest independent jewellers.
Whilst away David has achieved a professional retail jewellers diploma, and is now working towards the top gemmology qualifications. Today, W.E. Clark & Son are proud to have two of the finest showrooms in the area.
